CAHPU Neonatal

Allied Health Performed Neonatal Ultrasound

Purpose:

The CAHPU Neonatal Ultrasound provides accreditation and ongoing certification for clinical nurse consultants in neonatology, clinical nurse specialists (advanced neonatal practice), or neonatal nurse practioners.

Eligibility:

The Neonatal CAHPU is available to nominated clinical nurse consultants in neonatology, clinical nurse specialists (advanced neonatal practice), or neonatal nurse practitioners. Nominations must be made by a Neonatal CCPU holder to the Neonatal Special Interest Group of ASUM.

Before your nomination can be accepted you need to identify a mentor/supervisor who will supervise you for a minimum of two years and this mentor/supervisor must be approved by the ASUM Neonatal Special Interest Group. Your mentor/supervisor must have the appropriate qualifications: A re-certified Neonatal CCPU, anyone on the Neonatal supervisor register, DDU, DMU, AMS or other recognised ultrasound qualification or specialist Radiologist or Cardiologist.

If your nomination is accepted you may enrol in the Neonatal CAHPU and you may proceed to the CAHPU online physics tutorial. Please note that completing the CAHPU online physics tutorial prior to having a nomination accepted will not grant access to the Neonatal CAHPU program.

Enrolling in the CAHPU:

After having your nomination approved by the Neonatal Special Interest Group of ASUM:
1. Please join ASUM as a member
2. Enrol in the Neonatal CAHPU
