ASUM-CAHPU Mandatory Unit Update
ASUM-CAHPU candidates enrolling from the 1st July 2026 must complete the following mandatory eLearning modules:
This online module provides the essential knowledge needed to understand how ultrasound systems create images, their limitations, and how these factors impact clinical decision-making.
Introduction to Reprocessing Ultrasound Transducers
This online module is aligned with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) recognised ASUM/ACIPC Guidelines for Reprocessing Ultrasound Transducers (2026) and supports healthcare professionals in maintaining safe and compliant ultrasound practices.
Note: Both eLearning modules need to be completed once every three years and not for each ASUM-CAHPU unit.
E-learning Physics
Please enrol in the e-learning physics when you complete your enrolment form in addition to the ASUM-CAHPU units.
Please refer to the e-learning Physics site here
Completing the physics module is compulsory to complete the ASUM-CAHPU.
ASUM-CCPU CAHPU Accredited course provider
Accredited courses can be completed at any time during the 3 years of enrolment.
Validity of the course is 2 years from when it was attended.
Logbooks can be completed before or after attending an accredited course.
It is the Supervisor’s responsibility to determine when the candidate is ready to commence the logbook.
ASUM-CAHPU Recertification grace period
ASUM-CAHPU holders are required to recertify at three-yearly intervals after the initial certification date recorded on the issued ASUM-CAHPU certificate.
A One-year grace period is determined to complete the recertification process. In the case of an expired ASUM-CAHPU (3 years after the original recertification due date), the applicant will need to complete the return to practice process to get recertified.
