Market research

You’re invited to participate in the following surveys:

Distractors in Ultrasound: Investigating sonographer perceptions about the impact of ‘distractors’ on the performance of obstetric ultrasound. (15 minutes)

Obstetric sonography is widely recognised by sonographers as a social and bonding event, but this can sometimes translate into a chaotic scanning environment, rich in distractions. Distractions have been found to contribute to errors in health care settings, but there has been minimal exploratory research in the sonographic setting. A distracter is any event or stimulus that can cause diversion from the task at hand.
The results will inform if there is a need to develop policy in this area.
Please take 15 minutes of your time to fill out the survey. There are some closed questions, and some questions where you are invited to provide free comment. The survey is anonymous and participation in the survey infers that you consent to participation in the survey. We encourage you to answer all questions, but you may leave questions blank if you are not comfortable to provide answers.

Allied Health Workforce Research Program

This is a great opportunity to contribute to research that will strengthen sonography in Victoria. The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services has commissioned a 3-year research program, which in the first year of the program will include in-depth research on sonography, one of up to twelve allied health disciplines being researched.

Individual allied health practitioners are encouraged to spend 15 minutes to complete The Allied Health Workforce Questionnaire. This program will assist professions in understanding key workforce issues influencing their capacity to meet service demand and generate a reliable source of allied health workforce data that will inform future government policy decisions.

The key research question that underpins the program is: what are the workforce development issues that are preventing allied health professions from meeting service demand?

If you are an employer of allied health practitioners, or you are an allied health practitioner, your involvement in this program is vital to its success.

If you have any questions about this research, please contact Professor Susan Nancarrow on AHPworkforce@scu.edu.au
