Canon Medical Systems ANZ Recognised for Supporting ASUM Outreach Program
Canon Medical Systems ANZ (formerly Toshiba Medial Systems) has been supporting the ASUM Outreach program since 2014, with a contribution of $2,000 every year to the Outreach fund at the ASUM annual conference.
Outreach is a program run by ASUM, aiming to provide ultrasound services and education in remote areas of developing countries to enhance people’s life quality. This year, with a red bow tie from Guatemala, one of the Outreach countries, the program has been raised to new heights.
The special bow tie was hand-made by a child in Guatemala, and given to Dr Sue Campbell-Westerway, an ultrasound researcher & educator as a gift during her services there earlier this year. The bow tie was passed on to Robert Petersen, Canon Medical Ultrasound ANZ Manager, as a token of gratitude for Canon Medical’s continuous support of the Outreach program.
During the gala dinner, delegates were encouraged to wear the bow tie, and share their photos on social media. For each participation, Canon Medical made an extra $10 contribution to the Outreach fund. This initiative has been supported by most of the delegates, which helped to raise the money and increase the awareness of the ASUM Outreach program on social media.
