DDU Part 1 & 2 – Written Examinations 2010

The examination date for DDU Part 2 Viva Voce is 26 June 2010.
They will be held at:

ASUM Training Rooms, Level 2

There is an additional opportunity for candidates to sit the Part I Examinations in 2010 only. This will take place on 6 November 2010 and Sydney will be the only examination venue.

 

NOTE: DDU Results can not be given over the phone. Results will be posted to candidates during July 2010.

The Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound is awarded by the Council of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners to appropriately qualified medical graduates of good standing. A candidate for the Diploma must be a Bachelor of Medicine of an Australian or New Zealand University or hold registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board or Council of a state or territory of Australia or New Zealand and have permanent resident status in Australia or New Zealand.

Before admission to the Part I examination, each candidate shall produce evidence of having held approved resident medical officer posts in related subjects for a period of not less than two years and also evidence of enrolment for a course of study leading to one of the qualifications listed below as allowing entry to the Part II examination. The Part I examination is a written exam consisting of a 120 question multi choice questionnaire (MCQ) in the Basics of Ultrasound which includes physics, related technical matters and the biological effects of ultrasound. The Part II examination is open to those candidates who have passed the Part I examination and who are Fellows of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine, the College of Intensive Care Medicine, or who hold an equivalent diploma in one of these disciplines. Before admission to the Part II examination each candidate shall provide evidence of training and of a minimum of two years experience in the practice of diagnostic ultrasound acceptable to the Board of Examiners. Such training and experience shall include the attainment of proficiency in the personal performance of those examinations related to the candidate's field of practice. Acceptance of a Case Book is also required.

The Part II Examination consists of:

1. A written paper in Diagnostic Ultrasound
2. An oral examination in Diagnostic Ultrasound
3. Case reporting
4. An anatomy
5. A practical test of proficiency in scanning may be included
