The aim of this section of the ASUM web site is to act as a focus for the collection and sharing of information about the history of ultrasound in Australia.
The initial documents and photographs are largely drawn from the archives of the Ultrasonics Institute (UI) and its clinical collaborators. This is not surprising, given that ASUM's early history is inextricably linked with that of the Ultrasonics Institute.
The material has been gathered in the course of preparing a series of posters for a history display at the WFUMB 2009 conference. The group of people involved in this venture were Dr George Kossoff, Dr David Robinson, Dr Rob Gill, Dr Laurie Wilson, Dr Jack Jellins, Mrs Kaye Griffiths, Mr Ian Shepherd, Dr Peter Warren, Prof Tom Reeve and Dr Bill Garrett, supported by ASUM and the WFUMB 2009 World Congress organising committee.
Over time we hope that documents, photographs and other material will be contributed by many others involved in the development of ultrasound in Australia so that the coverage will become more complete.
