Wagga Wagga Base Hospital radiology department perform plain Xray, orthopantograms (OPGs), ultrasounds and 64 slice CT scans, for all inpatients and accommodating outpatients through outpatient clinics and pre-admission clinics. The department is a major referral center for GSAHS and operates on a digital imaging platform.
As part of the Medical Imaging team, the Sonographer will be responsible for the effective provision and management of Ultrasound services within the WWBH as well as providing training, support and guidance for trainee sonographers within the department.
The Sonographer will ensure that the Ultrasound services delivered to all patients and clients of the service are done so in a courteous, respectful and friendly manner. All staff should abide by the values of the GSAHS by showing respect and compassion within their work and teamwork, creativity and integrity within the workplace. A range of Ultrasound examinations will be delivered by the Sonographer within the WWBH Medical Imaging Department as part of a multimodality service. The Sonographer will have excellent customer service and time management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Registration/eligibility for registration with the EPA, AIR and ASAR is required , as well as continuing medical education (CPD).The ability to participate in an on call roster is required. The Trainee Sonographer will ensure that the Ultrasound services delivered to all patients and clients of the service are done so in a courteous, respectful and friendly manner. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sonographer to join the Diagnostic/Ambulatory Program team at BC Women's Hospital. You will perform a wide range of technical procedures that will ensure the highest quality of patient care as well as assist with research and teaching projects. Your mandate will include working with complex and routine ultrasound cases. Exams performed in our centre are detailed fetal ultrasound scans, fetal echocardiography, Nuchal Translucency, Gynaecological and abdominal ultrasound, and guidance for a variety of special procedures such as Amniocentesis and Chorionic Villius Sampling. You will be expected to utilise different imaging aspects of diagnostic ultrasound, including doppler and colour flow mapping on a variety of ultrasound machines. You will work with on a dedicated obstetrical reporting and PAC's system.
You must be a graduate of an accredited health program such as Radiography or Nuclear Medicine, plus the successful completion of a recognised program in Diagnostic Ultrasound. At least two year's of Ob/Gyne scanning experience is required as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Current ARDMS or CARDUP registration in OBS/Gyn and Abdomen is required, along with board eligibility within the ARDMS or the Canadian equivalent, CARDUP. Registration/certification in other specialities such as Adult Cardiac, Peripheral Vascular Doppler, Nuchal Translucency and/or Fetal Echocardiography is desirable and encouranged after two years of employment. You will be expected to provide proof of Continuing Medical Education credits since graduation from a Diagnostic Ultrasound Program. This role will appeal to an individual with strong technical skills and a focus on patient care and support. You will be working as a team player amongst a multidisciplinary team in this tertiary obstetrical care centre.
