POPLITEAL ARTERY ENTRAPMENT SYNDROME: A REVIEW OF 3 CASES

Abstract
A review of the literature suggests that Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome (PAES) is a well recognised but uncommon cause of claudication, most commonly seen in young and often athletic patients in whom atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease would be unusual. This paper reviews 3 cases of convincing PAES that I have encountered in the last 6 months.

It is very likely that PAES is an under-diagnosed condition and I bring it to your attention as a worthy differential to consider in the specific setting of claudication in youth.
