Performance and use of ultrasound by clinicians at point of care to guide acute clinical care is now common place, but training & accreditation has not yet been addressed.
The Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound (CCPU) is offered by the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) as a credential for medical practitioners who are not imaging specialists but who may use ultrasound as a diagnostic tool at the point of care. The CCPU is awarded by the ASUM Council on the recommendation of the ASUM CCPU Certification Board.
The CCPU(O&G) contains 4 modules beyond the generic physics and safety module that all CCPU courses include. The modules include Fundamentals of O&G scanning, Acute pelvic and ovarian pathology initial screening, and Acute Gynaecology and 1st Trimester bleeding.
