Governance

The Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine's (ASUM) governance structure is one of a public company, limited by guarantee.

ASUM is governed by a Board of Directors (ASUM Council) elected by the Membership as per the ASUM Constitution. The Board of Directors appoint a Chief Executive Officer to administer the organisation.

ASUM has approximately over 3,000 members, 6 full-time staff, 2 part-time staff members and a large number of members in volunteer positions on various committees.

CEO, Annie Gibbins	Annie has extensive medical education experience in both the public and private sector. Her key emphasis is in providing high-level advice, leadership and direction to ASUM Council, staff and members. She has a dynamic, engaging & strategic management style. Annie hold a Master of Education, Grad Dip Ed and BHlth Sc (Nursing)	Operations Manager, Paul Stephenson	Paul is responsible for Financial Project Management in a permanent part time capacity. He has previously held senior Financial , Commercial and managerial positions primarily in the Logistics Supply Chain Industry and is a Fellow Institute of Public Accountants (FIPA).
Membership & CPD Officer, Michele Short	Michele manages Membership, Branch Meetings, Special Interest Craft Group Meetings and ASUMs CPD Program MOSIPP. While her career was originally in the area of sales and marketing,over the last few years she has worked in not for profit medical education administration. Michele brings with her a strong work ethic and professional style which will serve our membership well	Education Projects Manager, Tanya Carleton	Tanya has a Bachelor's of Business Administration University of Colorado. She has volunteered and shadowed in a variety of medical and surgical areas such as adult memory impairment, emergency, reconstructive plastic surgery, obstetric & gynaecological surgery, surgery prep & recovery, and hospice & palliative care.
Publications and Scientific Editor, Jocelyne Basseal	A graduate from the University of Sydney with a Doctorate in Microbiology, Jocelyne has worked as a post-doctoral research fellow on numerous projects. Jocelyne is a published author in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has years of experience in delivering lectures, supervising graduate and post-graduate students and organising national and international scientific conferences.	Information Systems Technician, Alex Watterson	Originally from the UK, Alex studied Law and Computer Science before undertaking a variety of IT roles including web development, research into e-learning at Brighton University and digital forensics. Alex will be working on the exciting new e-learning portal at ASUM and also keeping the ASUM web presence updated as we move forward.
Education Co-ordinator, Meron Oxley	Meron runs the day to day requirements of the DDU and DMU (Asia) programs. Meron holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.	Education Co-ordinator, Claire Purkis	The DMU coordinator runs the day to day requirements of the DMU program.
Accountant, Brad Hawkins	Brad completes the month end accounts reconciliation and provides professional advice on budget matters.	Administration Assistant, Ulyana Butenko	Ulyana provides effective support to the education coordinators to ensure CCPU, DMU and DDU program requirements are managed according to curriculum requirements and established timelines. She deals with enrolments, deferrals and withdrawals, manages students' case-based assignments and logbooks, makes travel arrangements, provides assistance with daily student requests and is responsible for filing. Ulyana holds a Master's degree in Linguistics.
