You may know of the excellent reference book written by Martin Necas “Artifacts in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound: Grayscale Artifacts”. It is the most comprehensive book that I know of on the subject, with over 250 illustrations and clear descriptions of when and how each artifact arises, whether it is useful and how to minimise it.
Martin published the book in 2012 as an Apple e-book, and subsequently he arranged a small print run.
In late 2016 Martin invited me to become the publisher of the book. I am pleased to announce that it is now widely available as a regular paperback book and as an e-book compatible with any e-book reading device and software.
Like my textbook “The Physics and Technology of Diagnostic Ultrasound: A Practitioner’s Guide” and its companion Study Guide, the Artifacts book can be purchased from my website in both print and e-book formats:
It can also be bought from a range of online booksellers (including Amazon and BookDepository) and the e-book version can be bought from the Apple iBooks store, the Amazon Kindle store and a wide range of other e-book sites.
